  • 1 Tennis Racquet
  • 3 Tennis balls
  • 4 fielding gloves
  • 3 cones
  • 1 Catcher's helmet and mask.

Station 4: Striking a Moving Ball

Step 1 : You will need :
  • 1 Tennis Racquet
  • 3 Tennis balls
  • 4 fielding gloves
  • 3 cones
  • 1 Catcher's helmet and mask.

Step 2 : In your groups set up your station as below :

  • A Pitcher = The pitchers role is to throw the ball to the batter. Underarm throws only ! (Equipment= 3 tennis balls and a glove) 
  • A Batter = The batter's role is to hit the moving ball using the same striking technique taught in previous lessons however, using a tennis racquet. Two hand grip only !  (Equipment= 1x tennis racquet)
  • 2 x Fielders = The fielders role is to collect the balls and safely return them to the pitcher. (Equipment= 1 x glove per fielder) 
  • A Catcher= the catcher's role is to field any foul balls ( balls that are not hit by the batter or poor throws by the pitcher. The Catcher mustn't run in front of the batter unless warned and must stay 1.5m chest side of batter ! (Equipment= Catchers helmet + mask and a glove) 
Students are to perform 3 successful hits prior to rotating positions.
