Ch 6:    §6.1   6.2   6.3
You've learnt a lot about Word Formulas
already.
However, in order to make sure you really understand the first 3 paragraphs,
here's some more practice!

Slide 2 - Slide

Get organised first!
+ open your Notebook and take
+ a pencil, pen, ruler, eraser before you

First follows the METHOD how to MAKE A FORMULA from a description (=beschrijving).

Slide 3 - Slide

Slide 4 - Slide

Task 1:
Make the formula, take a picture of your work and send it in the next slide.
Work it out
in your Notebook
first!

Slide 5 - Slide

The formula I made is ......

Slide 6 - Open question

Explanation Task 1

Your Calculation may be a little shorter, as I said.
Most important is the correct formula, of course.

Slide 7 - Slide

This formula is also correct:
timer
0:30
A
attractions x 2.50 + 4 = cost
B
cost = 4 + 2.50 x attractions
C
cost = 2.50 + 4 x attractions
D
attractions x 4 + 2.50 = cost

Slide 8 - Quiz

Task 2: answer question b in next slide
Use the Formula we just made!

Slide 9 - Slide

Answer Task 2:
A
31.50 euros
B
32.00 euros
C
31.00 euros
D
32.50 euros

Slide 10 - Quiz

Explanation Task 2:

Slide 11 - Slide

Task 3:   answer question c in the next slide.

Slide 12 - Slide

answer Task 3 (question c)
The old formula was:

A
4 + number of attractions + 3 = cost
B
4 x number of attractions x 3 = cost
C
number of attractions x 3 + 4 = cost
D
cost = 4 + number of attractions x 3

Slide 13 - Quiz

The next slide is about
WALLPAPERING.
Why?
You will soon see!

Slide 14 - Slide

Slide 15 - Slide

Task 4: answer in next slide.

Slide 16 - Slide

Task 4
The fixed amount is ...

(the formula is: hours x 25 + 40 = cost)
A
25
B
40
C
65
D
15

Slide 17 - Quiz

explanation Task 4:
(The formula is:
hours x 25 + 40 = cost)
Time for a Joke!

Slide 18 - Slide

Slide 19 - Slide

Task 5: Now you're asked to Plot a Graph.
First comes the Method once more!

Slide 20 - Slide

Slide 21 - Slide

Task 5: Now you're asked to Plot a Graph.
Make the Table and Graph, take a pic and send it in in the next slide! You may use the PAPER BOOK, p.234: it is exercise E4!

Tip: in the Table take numbers 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 for the hours.

Task 5 Table and Graph are here:

Slide 23 - Open question

Solution
Task 5:

Slide 24 - Slide

Task 6: Key in your answer in next slide.

Note:The answer for this question you really cannot READ OFF
accurately from your graph. The answer is NOT a whole number.
Try to solve it with a CALCULATION!

Slide 25 - Slide

Answer Task 6:
A
4 hours
B
4 hours and 5 minutes
C
4.5 hours
D
5.4 hours

Slide 26 - Quiz

The calculation plus the final answer:
The formula is:       hours x 25 + 40 = cost
The cost is:              152.50  euros
The calculation runs as follows:
152.50 - 40 = 112.50
112.50 : 25 = 4.5
So the number of hours is takes is 4.5

Slide 27 - Slide

Task 7:
Give an example of a LINEAR FORMULA.
Key in in the next slide.

Slide 28 - Slide

Example Linear Formula:

Slide 29 - Mind map

Solution Task 7:
There are an infinite (=oneindig) number of answers here. Just a few:
-    time in hours x 3  +  15  = money earned in euros
-    cost in euros = 3000  -  15 x tickets sold
-    water level in cm = time in minutes x 15  +  300

Slide 30 - Slide

So, you have worked hard on all 3 paragraphs now by this LessonUp.
Hope you did well.
However, most important is that you PRACTISED a lot.
Repetition (=herhaling) is important to really take in something new!
Next slide shows you the Homework.
