Galileo Galilei
  • In the 17th century in Italy Galileo proved that the earth revolves around the sun.
  • This is called heliocentrism. Helio is greek for sun.
  • The Catholic church was angry. God made the earth so everything should revolve around the eath (geo).
  • Galileo was a heretic and would be placed under house arrest till his death.
