Consequences of shortages water
  • People collect a lot of water from aquifers and oases (get depleted).
  • Countries build dams because they have shortage, keep water from even more shortage. Nice for one country, but not for another....
  •  Food production endangered, crops fail

  • Price of water rises, because there is little of it --> unaffordable for the poorest
  • Agricultural products become expensive. People move to cities and leave their homes --> Mass migration
  • Conflicts arise over water and dissatisfied citizens --> possible wars
