Past simple

 Regelmatige werkwoorden (rww)

Achter het werkwoord plaats je 'ed'

I walk -> I walked

it rains-> it rained

they beg-> they begged

 RWW Spelling

Als een werkwoord eindigt op -y, dan komt er in de past simple een -ied achter:

I carry- I carried

you study- you studied

In de past simple komt er een -ed achter als er een klinker voor staat:

I play - I played

Past Simple - Onregelmatige werkwoorden

Sommige werkwoorden zijn onregelmatig (OWW) en dat betekent dat ze geen '-ed' krijgen maar hun eigen vorm hebben.

to write  -> wrote    I wrote her a letter last week.

to go       -> went      He went to Italy last year.

to make -> made     They made a very nice meal two days ago.

Past Simple - OWW

Er zijn geen regels voor de OWW, je moet ze uit je hoofd leren. Je pakt voor de Past Simple de 2e kolom.

Past Simple Signaalwoorden

In de zin staat vaak een tijdsbepaling van verleden tijd.

Didn't / did not + hele ww (1e kolom):

Turn into a negative

the Past simple ( v.t.)

I walk to school. -> I walked to school.

I do not / don't walk to school. -> I did not / didn't walk to school.

Do I walk to school? -> Did I walk to school?
