 past simple.

q; Did = subject + base form
n: Subject + did not or didn't + base form

when verbs end in an -e you don't add -ed: love>>> loved

 
final consonant after a short stressed vowel is doubled, as is a verb ending in l:
admit (toegeven toelaten) >>> admitted
travel>>>> travelled
