Gebruik: om aan te geven wat er gebeurt. Het is niet belangrijk wie het doet. 
Het onderwerp is passief want het ondergaat iets, het doet zelf niets.

Active: Someone hacked my social media page.
Passive: My social media page was hacked (by someone) last week.

Tip! Als je 'by zombies' achter het werkwoord kan zetten is het een passive.

Let op! Bij deze werkwoorden moet je altijd een adjective gebruiken:
- feel             - smell                  - taste 
- look            - sound

= Bijwoord. Zegt iets over: 
- Een werkwoord          She sings beautifully.
- Een adjective              The song is incredibly beautiful.
- Een adverb                  The car drove extremely slowly.

Formule regelmatig:
adjective + ly

Spellingsuitzonderingen:
Eindigt op een:
Medeklinker + y = - ily          Funny -> funnily
-le ->- ly                                    Gentle -> gently
-ic -> -ically                              Ironic -> ironically
- ue -> - uly                              true -> truly
-LL -> - LLy                               full -> fully

Ook adverbs (maar zonder 'ly')
zoals: always, still never, often



Deze woorden hebben dezelfde adjective en adverb vorm:

- high                - straight
- fast                 - right
 - cheap           - daily
Uitzonderingen:
good - well
hard - hard (=hard)
    x    - hardly (=nauwelijks)
