Instructions

At the end of the lesson (or topic), the students receive an open question, an Exit Card. In this card, the students write down what they have learned in the lesson. However, how they do it is partially up to them. The students can choose (hence the term: Choice) from the following ways to process and present what they have learned:
  • Make a list with bullet points.
  • Write a summary.
  • Create an illustration/drawing/collage.
  • Make a mind map.
  • Explain why the information from the lesson is important to you.
Subject-specific ways of processing can optionally be added:
  • Create a timeline.
  • Explain a connection (cause - effect, problem - solution, analyze, continuity - discontinuity, sequence).
  • Give an example based on (the formula, chemical reaction).
By giving students the choice of how to organize the material for themselves, you not only give them a bit of control but also differentiate in a relatively simple way. Additionally, the diversity provides a welcome way to conclude the lesson.
