Park Young-sim escaped but lost her baby in a prisoner-of-war camp and suffered long-term health problems. In 1993 she began sharing her story to raise awareness. She participated in a women’s international tribunal in 2000 in Tokyo but was triggered by memories of her time as a comfort woman and could barely speak or eat. She passed away in 2006 at the age of 85.
