- know the difference between direct and reported (indirect) Speech.
- know which types of words I need to change when rewriting from direct to indirect speech
- have practised rewriting from direct to indirect speech together with the teacher and the rest of the class.

We gebruiken reported speech om op een later tijdstip te herhalen wat wij zelf hebben gezegd, of wat iemand anders heeft gezegd.
Direct speech: "We are trying to pay attention!"
Indirect speech: They said (that) they were trying to pay attention.
