LO: I can use 'going to' & present continuous to talk about the future.

Present continuous

I am meeting my friends tomorrow for lunch.

Andy is not going to the dentist on Friday.

spend – incorrect – this is a present continuous. Present simple in the future is used for scheduled events/according to a timetable.

I AM going to spend - Also correct – However, because it is definitely arranged it is less commonly used.

The present continuous tense is mainly used to talk about personal arrangements and fixed plans. Be going to can also be used to express the same idea; however, it puts an extra emphasis on the idea of intention. I am going to get a new job. (= I intend to get a job.)
