Illegal writing or drawings on public spaces, using spray paint. 
Art in public spaces, often with permission, that can include on walls. 
Breaking or damage to property.
Approval to do something, often from police or property owners.
A group of people living in the same area. 
Allowed  by law.
Not allowed by law and you can into trouble if you do this. 
The way of life, customs, and beliefs of a group of people

Forming an opinion: 
  • Forming an opinion is about sharing personal views supported by reasons. 
  • Example: In my opinion dogs make great pets and the reason because dogs are friendly and social animals
  • I disagree. I think cats make great pets because they are easy to train and don’t need a lot of time.

After watching, write down your opinion: 'Is graffiti street art or vandalism? Why do you think that?'

Making a Poster OR creating a Presentation
What: Form groups of 3.  Choose between making a poster or presentation together giving your opinion whether graffiti is street art or vandalism? 
Assignment: . Design your poster or presentation using the vocabualry and sentence starters  to clearly present your idea. Inlcude the following: 
a. A title that represents your idea stance (e.g., Graffiti: A Voice for the People or Graffiti: Destroying Public Spaces).
b. Write a short explination on the poster or presentation: What do your images or artwork show? Why did you choose these? 
Time:15  minutes to design and create the poster or presentation
Help: You may ask the teacher for help. 
Finished? Check your poster or presentation and practice to present it to the class.
