Samenvatting:

First conditional: kans dat het gaat gebeuren in de toekomst

if + present simple / will + hele ww

Second conditional: kans bestaat bijna niet dat het (nog) gaat gebeuren/kan gebeuren

if + past simple / would + hele ww

Hoofdzin en if-zin kunnen worden omgedraaid. 

Past simple vs Past continuous

Twee vormen van verleden tijd:

- Past simple 

- Past continuous 

Uitleg

Wanneer gebruiken we de past simple? (verleden tijd)

Om te zeggen dat iets in het verleden gebeurde en voorbij is.

For example - She talked to her friend yesterday.

What does a past continuous look like?

+ was / were + werkwoord + ing

Verschil:

De past continuous was al bezig en de past simple onderbreekt datgene. Een korte plotselinge gebeurtenis.

I was washing my hair when the doorbell rang.

He was running when his ankle broke.

You were cooking when the chicken fell.

Past Simple or Past Continuous?

She had a great time yesterday evening.

Adverbs of frequenty: bijwoorden van frequentie

always               =        altijd

often                  =        vaak

never                 =        nooit

rarely                 =         zelden

 

Hoe ga je te werk?

1.  zoek als eerst het werkwoord op.

2.  plaats dan het bijwoord van frequentie VOOR het werkwoord.

LET OP!

Als het werkwoord een vorm is van to be (am, are, is, was, were) dan staat het bijwoord van frequentie ACHTER het werkwoord.

Zinsvolgorde

Concrete tijdaanduidingen (bijwoorden van tijd) staan aan het begin of eind van de zin:

Maak het jezelf makkelijk – tijd altijd achteraan

Plaats + tijd

              

- Ben walks to work every morning.

- Sam has been in Canada since April.

- I'm going to Paris on Monday.

Plaats staat altijd voor de tijd. Maak het jezelf makkelijk en zet altijd de tijd achteraan in een zin.
