Organs of plants and their functions

A plant’s root system has three functions:

• taking up water and minerals from the soil

• keeping the plant firmly anchored in the ground

• storing food reserves

Stems have two functions:

• to transport substances

• to give the plant rigidity (make it sturdier)

Function of leaves:

Photosynthesis!

The function of the vascular system is transport:

• water and minerals travel from the roots to the other parts of the plant

• glucose travels from the leaves to the other parts of the plant

• Done? Make a drawing of a plant and indicate the following parts: stem, roots, leaves, flower.
  
• Include the functions of these parts.
