The argument from first cause

aka cosmological argument:

• Everything that begins to exist has a cause.
• The universe began to exist.
• Therefore: The universe has a cause.

2. Write down the three steps of the argument.
3. Write in your own words what the argument claims.

Choose two of the following questions and answer them:

1. What do you think of the cosmological argument? Why?

2. Can you think of an example of something that begins to exist and 

     clearly has a cause?

3. What might a scientist say about this argument?

4. Do you think it makes sense to assume God is the cause? Explain.

Fast finishers can draw a small diagram or visual summary of the argument.

Slower learners may discuss one question briefly with a partner before writing.
