Indirect speech

Wanneer? Je gebruikt dit als je wil vertellen wat iemand anders heeft gezegd:

Lynn: "I'm reading a very good book."

You: Lynn said (that) she was reading a very good book. 

Stijn: "My mum isn't home yet."

You: Stijn said (that) his mum wasn't home yet. 

Indirect speech

Je gaat een stapje terug in de tijd (want je vertelt het op een (ietsjepietsje) later tijdstip terug):

Direct: present simple --->                  indirect: past simple

Direct: present continuous: --->       indirect: past continuous

Direct: past simple --->                         indirect: past perfect

Ga voor jezelf na: weet je hoe je deze tijden vormt?

Which of the following is the Past Simple:

2. I walked to school

Which of the following is the Past Continuous

1. We are baking right now
2. We baked a cake last night

Indirect speech: present simple

De present simple wordt past simple. 

(Van tt naar vt, je gaat een beetje terug in de tijd.)

"I don't like shopping", says Imke. > Imke said (that)she didn't like shopping. 

Jochem: "What is the homework for History?" >Jochem asked what the homework for History was. 

Indirect speech: present continuous

De present continuous wordt de past continuous: 

am/is/are + ww-ing          wordt           was/were + ww-ing

Vorm: 

I was working. 

They were talking a lot. 

Present continuous

Chris: "I am doing my homework."

Chris said (that) he was doing his homework. 

Anne: "They are working hard today." 

Anne said (that) they were working hard that day. 

Past simple en present perfect

Past simple en present perfect worden de past perfect. 

Amy: "I woke up late this morning." 

>Amy said (that) she had woken up late that morning." 

Jake: "I have fallen". 

>Jake said (that) he had fallen. 

Mind!

Verander de verwijzing naar een tijdstip: 

• tomorrow wordt: the next day  (Bijv. Teacher: 'Elise is singing tomorrow.' The teacher said that Elise was singing the next day. 
• tonight wordt: that night

Which is correct: Amy: I am okay.
Stap 1: welke tijd is dit? Stap 2: terug op de tijdlijn.

1. Amy said she is okay
2. Amy said she is being okay
3. Amy said she was okay
4. Amy said she had been okay

Which form is correct:
Trish: I am doing laundry.
1. Welke tijd? 2. Stap terug.

1. Trish said she was doing laundry.
2. Trish is doing laundry.
3. Trish was doing laundry
4. Trish said she is doing laundry.

Maak indirect speech:
John: "I like to cook." Begin je zin met: John said that... Let op hoofdletters en punten!

Tom: 'Max won the 2nd race tonight!' Begin met Tom told us... Wees nauwkeurig! Let op tonight....

En deze? Koeman: 'The team is going to win tomorrow.' Begin met Koeman said that..
En wat gebeurt er met tomorrow?
