• Official end of the Second World War.

• The Canadian army stayed in the Netherlands after the war for more than a year.
• Goal: keeping order and rebuilding the country.
• Many Dutch women get children from Canadian soldiers.

•  They USA gave Marshall Help to many European states.
• In return the USA asked for favorable trade agreements.
• Many Europeans saw the Americans as saviors and started copying American culture.

Rebuilding 

the country

•  Thanks to American and Canadian help the Netherlands is able to quickly rebuilt the country.
• Many new neighbourhoods are built to meet the rising demand for homes.

Americanisation

•  = Adopting American culture.
• Mainly music, fashion, movies and wedding rituals.
