Comparisons

Bijvoeglijk naamwoord met 1 lettergreep: - er - est
Cheap - cheaper - cheapest

short - shorter - shortest

Bijvoeglijk naamwoord eindigend op -y --> -ier / iest

easy - easier - easiest

happy - happier - happiest

Comparisons

bijvoeglijk naamwoord met 2 of meer lettergrepen: more en most

beautiful - more beautiful - most beautiful

attractive - more attractive - most attractive

Bij deze bijvoeglijk naamwoorden kan je zowel
more-most als -er of -est gebruiken: 

common, cruel, handsome, likely, pleasant, polite, quiet, simple, stupid. 

I can think of pleasanter / more pleasant things than grammar. 

Dat mag ook bij tweelettergrepige woorden die eindigen op -le, -er, -ow: 

simple - simpler/ more simple - simplest/ most simple

clever - cleverer/ more clever - cleverest/ most clever

narrow - narrower/ more narrow - narrowest/ most narrow

Onregelmatige vormen

good - better - best

bad - worse -worst

far - farther/ further - farthest/furthest

My house is (big) ... than yours.

This flower is (beautiful) ... than that one.

This is the (interesting)
... book I have ever read.

Non-smokers usually live (long) ... than smokers.

Which is the (dangerous) ... animal in the world?

A holiday by the sea is (good) ...
than a holiday in the mountains.

Who is the (rich) ... woman on earth?

The weather this summer is even (bad) ... than last summer.

He was the (clever) ... thief of all.
