Welcome!
Today: New chapter, ecology (page 180)
Explanation about paragraph 6.1
Making homework
Slide 1 - Diapositive
What are we going to learn today?
What an ecosystem is and what can influence an ecosystem.
How organisms feed themselves in an ecosystem.
What the pyramid of biomass is.
Slide 2 - Diapositive
Levels of organization
We can look at organisms/nature in several levels, the levels of organization.
Slide 3 - Diapositive
Ecosystem
An ecosystem level where we look at both biotic and abiotic factors in a specific area.
Slide 4 - Diapositive
Feeding
In ecology, we look at the relationship between several organisms and their environment. One very important relationship is the predatory one. To see who eats who we draw a food web/chain.

Pyramid of biomass
When you go to the next link in a good chain, you will see the total amount of biomass (the total, dry weight of a level) decreases. This is sown in the pyramid of biomass.
Slide 7 - Diapositive
Accumilation
When toxins are released in a ecosystem, they can be passed to the next level while not getting decreased. This means that toxins also reaches animals, when it is only used against plants or insects.

Time to work!
The homework for next week are the exercises of paragraph 6.1, starting on page 184. You also have to make exercise 5 but can skip 9a (do make 9b!).
