Even though there has been political changes in the 19th century, nothing really happened for the rol of women
Higher class women weren't made for (factory)work and focussed on their families
Some middle class women did work, but only until their marriage

In 1840 people started to get dissatisfied about this situation and started to speak up. This is feminism.
These women strived to:
- get access to education
- get political rights
