    If & When

De woorden ''if'' en ''when'' gebruiken we om aan te geven onder welke omstandighden  dingen gebeuren. 

- You can only go in if you have a ticket 

- When I go out later, I'll lock the door

if	Je weet niet zeker of iets gaat gebeuren.
In het voorbeeld rechts is het niet zeker dat het slecht weer zal worden.	If the weather turns bad, we will stay at home.
In het voorbeeld rechts is het niet zeker dat die persoon hard gaat werken.	If you work harder, you will pass all your tests.

when	Het is eigenlijk zeker dat het gaat gebeuren maar je weet niet wanneer.
Hij komt zeker thuis (hij is al onderweg).	When he is home, we will have lunch together.
Hij is al zowat klaar en dan gaan we naar huis.	When you are ready, we will go home.

If: niet zeker

When: zeker maar je weet niet precies wanneer

If/when it rains, we will go home.

If/when winter starts, I will buy a very warm wintercoat.

If/When I grow older, I will work as an architect

If/when I live to be 100 years old, I will give an enormous party.

If/when he is home, we will watch a movie.

    Conditionals

Conditionals zijn als-zinnen in het Engels. Ze laten zien wat er gebeurt als iets anders gebeurt. Ze bestaan meestal uit twee delen:

- Een voorwaarde (met “if”)

- Een gevolg (wat er dan gebeurt)

Type 0

• Zero conditional
