One syllable words ending on e, just add r or st 

Close - closer - closest

one syllable adjectives ending with a consonant: double this constonant

Adjectives with two syllables or more take more/ most 

 Maroon 5 is more famous than little mix, but Queen is the most famous.

Matthew is not bad looking but Dominic is more handsome, I think we can all agree Christopher is the most handsome.
