Reproduction and sexuality
During this chapter, topics that are close to our hearts will be discussed. In order to have a good conversation, I want to make the following agreements:
- We will have an open conversation; no question is crazy, and if someone shares a story, they do so in confidence, so handle it well.
- We may disagree with each other or not understand each other, but we always remain respectful.
- We do not use terms that could be offensive or rude.

Today:
In this lesson we will learn:
- What happens to our bodies during puberty.
- What primary and secondary sexual characteristics are.

Slide 6 - Diapositive

Primary sexual characteristics
At (and before) birth, it is possible to see whether a child is male or female. You can see this from the genitals, these are called the primary sexual characteristics.
Very occasionally this is not clearly visible or are they mixed, this is called a intersex condition. During puberty, your body changes more and secondary sexual characteristics are added.

Secondary sexual characteristics are the changes that happens to someone's body during puberty.

These are set in motion by hormonen, mainly estrogen for girls and testosterone for boys.

Mental changes
Also, things change mentally during puberty, like:
- You can fall in love for the first time and get a relationship.
- You can get other hobbies and friends.
- You become more independent and can rebel more against your parents.
Puberty is searching for who you are and want to be, because of that you can sometimes feel lonely, but this will eventually go away!
