In Act I, Scene V, Lord Capulet hosts a masked party. 

A masked dance, was a popular form of entertainment during the Renaissance.

Think- pair- share:

1. Why were masked parties so popular?

2. What impact does a mask have on the person wearing it?

Read Act 1, scene 5 individually on the next slide.

Then, in pairs, can you answer these ten questions in five minutes?

Lord Capulet tells Paris to meet Juliet and make her fall in love with him at the party. 

Romeo finds out Juliet is a Capulet.

A fight between the Montagues and Capulets.

Love at first sight, Romeo and Juliet meet. 

Romeo and friends prepare for the party. Romeo has a feeling something bad will happen. 

The prologue.

Prince Escalus announces the penalty for fighting again.
