Final grade English 1.4 
Semester 2 (P3 & P4) grade consists of:
          - 30% Oral exam term 1.3  (at least 5,5)
          - 70% Written portfolio 1.4 (at least 5,5)
Semester 2 = 4 ECs. 

Portfolio = 8 assignments

You will be assessed on 1 or 2 assignments.
You will discover which assignment(s) are assessed after the deadline in Gradework has passed.

Portfolio requirements
  • Portfolio must be written in correct English
  • Correct register, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation, structure
  • Your work must be yours only as Gradework runs a check for plagiarism (plagiaat).

Rule: Place before time
Adverbs of time ex: yesterday, a few minutes ago, last year
Place at the beginning of a sentence and at the end (never in between)
 General adverbs ex: never, always, often, rarely, already, sometimes, usually, soon etc.
Never at the beginning, but put in middle of the sentence
Adverbs that says something about a verb should be put before a verb
Example: she suddenly stood up
Exception to that rule:
With the verb form of to be
Example: she is often late
Word order
First: adverbs of how
Then: adverbs of place
Last: adverbs of time
For example: I worked hard at the ranch yesterday.

Linking words can be used to:

  • To add ideas (toevoegen van een idee)
  • To explain ideas (uitleggen van iets)
  • To show cause and effect (oorzaak en gevolg)
  •  To show contrast / compare (tegenstelling en vergelijking)
  • To put ideas in order (in volgorde zetten)
  • To show conclusion (een conclusie/gevolgtrekking laten zien)
