Prepositions zijn voorzetsels
Voorzetsels geven verschillende dingen aan. 
Het kan aangeven waar iets zich bevindt, van wat iets gemaakt is of hoe je ergens naartoe komt.

Prepositions of instrument geven informatie over het instrument wat gebruikt wordt bij een handeling
By = met/per
Je gebruikt "by" als je hebt over vervoer/transport.
She travelled to France by car
They went to London by train

With = met
Je gebruikt "with" bij het gebruik van machines, andere apparaten of gereedschap
The sweater was made with a sewing machine
I made this little woorden chair with a hammer and a lot of nails.

Prepositions of connection geven een verbinding aan tussen mensen,dieren, dingen

Je gebruikt of, with & to om dingen/mensen/dieren met elkaar te verbinden
Of= van. Je gebruikt het om te laten zien dat iets onderdeel is van iets anders
The door of the car is still open
The capital of Germany is Berlin

With = met. Je gebruikt with om te praten over dingen en mensen die samen zijn
Ruth went to Spain with her best friend
I'm going out to dinner with my new colleagues

We gebruiken prepositions of direction om aan te geven in welke richting iemand of iets zich beweegt.

= over --> I'm walking across the road
(a)round = rond/omheen --> She's running around the classroom
away from = weg van --> We ran away from him
down = langs/naar beneden --> we walked down the road
from = vanaf --> He came from the other side of the road
into = erin --> He walked into a building
off = vanaf / af --> He jumped off the building
over = over(heen) --> the cat jumped over the fence
through = door(heen) --> the plane flew through the clouds
to = naar --> We are going to school today
along= langs
onto= bovenop -->The cat climbed onto the roof
