What you’ll learn: how to collaborate within the editorial and publication folders.
Time required: 3 minutes

Collaboration

LessonUp makes it easy to work together with colleagues thanks to two shared folders: the editorial folder and the publication folder.

The Editorial Folder

The editorial folder is the blue folder. Any material placed here is automatically locked, which means other people can’t find or view it in the lesson library.
⚠️ Note: The administrator needs to grant colleagues reading rights so they can view the material. Without reading rights, the material remains locked also for them.

💡 Tip: Anyone with writing rights in this folder can edit lesson materials. Once a lesson is ready, you can copy it to the publication folder to make it available to others.

The Publication Folder

The publication folder is the red folder. Anything placed here goes live on your channel instantly. If you move or copy a lesson from the editorial folder, you'll receive a notification.

You can also create subfolders in the publication folder to better organise your lessons. These subfolders appear under the Lessons tab on your channel. You might group them by topic, education level, or audience: whatever works best for you.
Tip 💡: Did you know you can add images and descriptions to your folders?
Here’s how:
  • Go to your publication folder.
  • Right-click on one of your red folders.
  • Select Edit settings.
  • Choose an image and add a short description.
  • Check how it appears on your channel.

The Lock Icon

As mentioned earlier, lessons in the editorial folder are automatically locked. Lessons in the publication folder are automatically public.
However, you can choose to unlock a lesson while it’s still in the editorial folder. This way, it won’t yet be part of your channel, but others can already access and use it via the lesson library.

How to unlock lessons:
  • Open the lesson in the editorial folder.
  • Click Options next to the lesson title.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Click the lock icon next to Lesson duration.
  • The lock will open, making your lesson visible to others. Don’t forget to add a short description!
