Employer responsibilities 

Last week we looked at the different H&S legislations linked to hairdressing.

Employers have responsibilities under these legislations.

Group Task

Revisit and  make a list of the employers responsibilities for these health and safety acts:

• Health and safety at work Act
• Manual Handling Operations Regulations
• Electricity at work Act
• Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
• Personal Protective Equipment at work.

Below is a list of 4 accidents and emergency situations. In your groups, discuss how you think each one would be dealt with.

• Slips, trips and falls

• A fire in the salon
• A flood caused by a leaking basin

Move them if you are able to

Check what has caused them to fall (have they tripped over something causing a hazard!!)
