The numerator indicates the number of equal parts we have, and the denominator shows how many of those parts make a whole.
Equivalent Fractions
Equivalent fractions are different fractions that represent the same value. E.g., 1/2 is equal to 2/4.
Comparing Fractions
To compare fractions, find a common denominator or convert them to decimals. E.g., 3/4 > 2/4.
Adding Fractions
To add fractions, make sure the denominators are the same, then add the numerators. E.g., 1/4 + 3/4 = 4/4 = 1.
Subtracting Fractions
Similar to addition, ensure the denominators are the same, then subtract the numerators. E.g., 3/4 - 1/4 = 2/4 = 1/2.
