Food consists of substances your body needs --> nutrients.
Nutrients can be used as : fuel, building material, protection or as a reserve.

Carbohydrates
Have a lot of energy because they get broken down in glucose. Mainly used as a fuel for your body.
Protein
Proteins are used to make new cells, think of muscle cells or when you have an injury.

Fats are used as a reserve for the carbohydrates.
Vitamins and mineral
Lots of different substances with several functions. Offer protection and help your immune system.
