Definition

"Non-verbal communication includes facial expressions, the tone and pitch of the voice, gestures displayed through body language (kinesics) and the physical distance between the communicators (proxemics)".

Pitch refers to the degree of highness or lowness of your voice. ... For example, when someone is excited, they usually speak with a higher pitch. 

Tone refers to a vocal sound made when someone speaks and includes pitch, quality, and strength of the voice.

Look carefully at the pictures in the next slide and answer the following questions:

• Do you recognize any of these gestures?

• Do you know what they mean?

• Are there any similar gestures in your own culture?
