Adjectives 
  • Bijvoeglijke naamwoorden (adjectives)
  • Om iets te beschrijven + zeggen iets over het zelfstandige naamwoord
  • The big lady in the painting.
  • They live in a beautiful house in New York 
  • He was an adorable baby
  •  This is a fast car!

Comparative adjectives 
  • Between two persons or -things
  • Add -er -> woorden van 1 lettergreep (cheap, big, small) 
  • Puck is louder than Lotte.
  • Add 'more' or 'less' -> woorden van 2/3 of meer lettergrepen
  • He is more interesting than her
  • This ring is more expensive than the other one.

Superlative adjectives 
  • Between three or more people or things
  • Add -est -> most one- and two- syllable adjectives  
  • Matt is the greatest man of them all.
  • Add 'most' or 'least' -> adjectives three or more syllables  
  • Rowan is the most handsome man of them all.
  • This car is the most luxurious car ever built.

Vaak wordt het woord gevolgd door THAN

Frank is taller than Rob.

The boys are faster than us.


Overtreffende trap:
(Superlative)
+EST

Vaak komt er voor het woord THE te staan

Rob is the tallest boy I know.

That is the fastest car ever.

  • Word ends with -y?
