On the second day of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, videos and pictures went viral on social media, with claims that a Ukrainian pilot nicknamed the "Ghost of Kyiv" had shot down 6 Russian fighter jets in the first 30 hours of the war.

Fake news?
On 24 February 2022, the Ukrainian newspaper Ukrainska Pravda published a viral audio recording in which the crew of a Russian warship offered Ukrainian border guards on Serpent Island to surrender to the Russian forces. One of the border guards responded by saying, "Russian warship, go [beep] yourself".[1]
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the death of the border guards.
