• Used to express a habit (an action that often repeats).

• Used to express general truths/facts that are timeless.

She walks to work every day.

How do you know when a verb is irregular?

Short answer: You don’t always “know” from the spelling. You usually have to learn and remember irregular verbs.

How do you know recognize an irregular verb?

1. If the verb cannot end in -ed. (I goed / I went)

2. If the vowel changed (I sing, I sang, I sung)

3. Some irregular verbs stay the same (I cut, I cut, I cut)
