First Vice President Dina Ercilia BOLUARTE Zegarra assumed the office of the president on 7 December 2022 after President Jose Pedro CASTILLO Terrones was impeached and arrested.

BOLUARTE is the first woman to become president of Peru

But: there are still protests by supporters of president Castillo.

Indigenous peoples in the highlands- Aymara or Quecha. Cronic altitude sickness, cold winds, harsh conditions for crop farming.
Indigenous peoples around Iquito- Bora people. Destroying their environment by logging. Destroying the culture by modern-day civilisation brought by tourists.
