True-to-life

• Drawn as accurately as possible
• Lots of detail
• Often in colour

Schematic

• Only the important parts have been drawn
• Few/no details
• Often no colours

Views

• External view: The outside of the object is drawn
• inside view: longitudinal section or transverse section
• longitudinal: object is cut along its length
• transverse: object is cut across its width

Rules for drawing

• Always use: pencil and ruler
• Ruler is only used for straight lines
• Start with the frame and necessary information before drawing!
• Draw things you see! NOT things you should see.
• Don't draw everything
• Draw BIG 
• Don't sketch
