Intensifiers versterken bijvoeglijke naamwoorden en mitigators verzwakt ze.

I am really late. I was supposed to be there an hour ago!  (really = intensifier)

The movie wasn’t bad, but I’m kind of disappointed because I expected it to be better.  (kind of = mitigator)

Een bijwoord zegt iets over een werkwoord (HOE iets gebeurt, actie in de zin).

Een werkwoord is iets wat je kunt doen: doewoord.

Madonna sings beautifully.

("beautifully" zegt iets over de manier van zingen.)
