PRESENT CONTINOUS

Present contiNUous: gebeurt NU 

Always use this form:

1. am, is / are 

2. hele werkwoord

3. -ing 

Example: They are working now

Present continuous 

Spellingsregels:

• Eindigt het werkwoord op een -e, dan valt de -e weg

(to have)     I am having lunch.

(to give)   He is giving us homework.

• Werkwoord van 1 lettergreep met een korte klinker (a, e, i, o, u), verdubbel dan de medeklinker

(to put)     We are putting sugar in his tea.

(to run)   She is running a marathon.

Present continuous 

 In de zin staan vaak signaalwoorden als

NOW, RIGHT NOW, AT THIS MOMENT, TODAY

My brother is playing tennis today

In het Nederlands gebruik je meestal "aan het" : Hij is aan het tennissen vandaag/ Ik ben aan het lesgeven nu.

Present continuous

1. aan te geven dat iets NU aan de gang is. Signaalwoorden zijn o.a: "now, at the moment, listen..." enz.

2. aan te geven dat je iets van plan bent. Meestal staat er bij wanneer je in de toekomst dat van plan bent.

3. irritatie aan te geven

Maak de present continuous door: vorm van 'to be' (am/is/are) + ww+ ing
