We began by considering what makes a good friend, identifying common qualities and discussing these as a class. We examined what constitutes a healthy relationship, highlighting mutual respect, trust, support, and effective communication as key elements. You guys were invited to reflect on which of these qualities they deemed most important and why. We also discussed warning signs of unhealthy friendships, such as constant criticism or lack of respect, through scenarios that differentiated healthy from unhealthy relationships. An engaging activity, 'red flag fishing', helped students recognise negative behaviours. Finally, students set personal goals to enhance their roles as friends or family members, and reflected on their learning by noting three key takeaways, two areas for further exploration, and one question about any uncertainties they had.
