Als dit.... dan dat....

"If my grandmother had wheels, she would have been a bike"

1st & 2nd Conditional

Er zijn twee soorten if-sentences:

1st conditional (waarschijnlijk dat het gebeurd)

2nd conditional (onwaarschijnlijk dat het gebeurd) 

First conditional

Hierbij gaat het om mogelijke/ waarschijnlijke dingen.

Maak je met:

If + present simple, will + hele ww

Example: If it rains, we will stay home.

Second Conditional

Als het gaat om onwerkelijke situaties en het waarschijnlijke resultaat daarvan.

Maak je met:

If + Past Simple, would + hele ww

Example:  If I had a million dollars, I would buy a large vacation home.

Verschil First & Second Conditional

Het verschil tussen de First & Second conditional zit in de waarschijnlijkheid.

Bij de first conditional is het mogelijk dat het gebeurd, bij de second conditional is de kans erg klein dat het ooit gaat gebeuren.
