p19 2B: ex4
  1. I'm meeting (appointment was made)/ I am going to meet (plan was made but not set)
  2. I'll probably do (uncertainty because weather)/I am doing (sounds weird, but why?)
  3. might leave ('usually' and 'depends on the weather' makes it uncertain)
  4. you will fly (expectation without evidence)
  5. might call (maybe)/ I am going to (plan was made already)
  6. I will close (spontaneous decision)
  7. Is leaving (air plane has a schedule)

p23 2D ex 6
Time clauses: phrases that tell us the relation between two events.
- focus on the earlier event: use present simple
- focus on the later event: use present perfect
Try ex 6, we will discuss the sentences, but you must study them & look for the relation between both parts of the sentences first.

Slide 22 - Slide

The point is....
After the time clause that focuses on preceding actions NO WILL.
Yes, we are talking about the future, but by using the time clause we indicate this. We are now free from using 'will' for future and can use present perfect to emphasise that one thing follows or precedes another or use 'will' for predictions.

Slide 23 - Slide

this goes for sentences with...
- until
- as soon as
- if... (prediction)
- by the time
- unless
I try to make sense of it in the next slides. Extra links behind this presentation

Slide 24 - Slide

Baamba is waiting outside

                                                until

we've finished exploring
Action goes on up to a certain point
---> present perfect

Slide 25 - Slide

As soon as

                            we have taken photos
we leave
first action MUST be completed
---> present perfect

Slide 26 - Slide

If

                          We stay any longer
we will be caught in a storm
Prediction (remember, first conditional? No will after if, that goes in second part)

Slide 27 - Slide

By the time

                          We reach camp
the rain will be here
Prediction (remember, first conditional?)

Slide 28 - Slide

Unless

                          We leave now
we will have problems getting back
Prediction (remember, first conditional?)

Slide 29 - Slide

Now what?

present perfect vs present simple
When do you use present perfect and when present simple when using time clauses?
