Adjectives
Adjectives would be *bijvoeglijk naamwoord* in Dutch

We use adjectives to:
  • describe a noun (mensen, dieren, dingen) 
  • give extra information about the object we are talking about
  • pimp a story ;-)

                there are all kind of adjectives:

  • Jack wears a red bandana
  • Jack has a golden tooth
  • The beautiful ship is called the Black Pearl
  • One of the crew members has got a glass eye
  • Another one always carries a talking parrot
  • The barking dog is being followed by the hungry cannibals

Adverbs
Adverbs would be *bijwoord* in Dutch.

We use adverbs to:
  • describe a verb 
  • describe an adjective / another adverb


                          Adverbs usually end with
-ly


(tells us in what way someone does something)
(professionally made = really professionally made)

Examples
  • The cannibals breath heavily when they think about food.
  • The ship looked beautifully on the sandy beach.
  • Jack behaved very awkwardly when being chased.
  • Jack's crew witnessed completely crazy situations.

Adverbs -LY
Adverbs are normally formed by adding -LY to the end of an adjective.

E.g. Quick - Quickly 

For adjectives that end in -l or -e, we simply add -ly:

special + ly = specially 
terminal + ly = terminally
literal + ly = literally
nice + ly = nicely
polite + ly = politely
