reading strategies:
summarizing: determine what is important and what isn't
asking questions: what do I know? (predicting)
visualizing: create a picture in your head
scanning: to read a text quickly in order to find specific information e.g.: figures, names or numbers can be contrasted with
skimming: reading quickly to get a general idea of meaning

Inferences: a guess that you make or an opinion that you form based on the information that you have:
Context-Clues: context clues are hints that an author gives to help define a difficult or unusual word. The clue may appear within the same sentence as the word to which it refers, or it may follow in a preceding sentence.
