Today's goals
  • At the end of this lesson, you know more about quantities using countable and uncountable nouns and some/any/much/ a lot.
  • At the end of this lesson, you can fill in the right form of quantities in sentences.

Quantities 
Countable nouns 
For positive sentences, we can use some /a lot of for plurals.
- I have some friends in New York. 
- There are a lot of onions.

For negatives, we can use any  for plurals.
- There aren't any seats.

Here are some examples of uncountable nouns

In questions, we use any or how many  with countable nouns.
Are there any chairs?
How many chairs are there?

And we use any or how much with uncountable nouns.
Is there any sugar?

We use little and a little for uncountable things.
Little means "weinig"
She had very little money
There was little milk left

 A little means "een beetje" of "wat"
He had a little money left

Few means "weinig"
 He received very few cards for his birthday.
There are few cars faster than a Ferrari.
