Why Is Health and Safety Important?
Health and safety protect everyone at work. It reduces accidents and keeps people safe and healthy.
Common Hazards at Work
Hazards include wet floors, loose wires, heavy lifting, and dangerous chemicals. Spotting hazards is the first step in preventing injury.
Types of Safety Signs
Yellow or amber, tells you to be careful: e.g. 'Caution: Wet Floor'.
Mandatory Signs
Blue, tells you must do something: e.g. 'Wear safety boots'.

Prohibition Signs
Red, tells you not to do something: e.g. 'No Smoking'.
Green, shows escape routes and first aid: e.g. 'Exit', 'First Aid'.
First Aid and Emergency
Know where the first aid kit is. In an emergency, stay calm, alert a supervisor, and follow instructions.
Correct Lifting Techniques
Bend your knees, keep your back straight, and hold objects close to your body. Ask for help with heavy items.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE like gloves, goggles, and helmets must be worn as required. They protect you from harm.
Your Responsibilities
Follow rules, report risks, use equipment correctly, and report any accidents to a supervisor.
