From the smallest in-house systems to stock control systems for large online retailers, databases are repositories of information that are a significant part of organisational operating requirements….”

You will study:
  1. The theory and practices of databases
  2. How to design databases
  3. How to create databases (Implement)
  4. How to test a database

You will develop skills in Microsoft Access, part of Office 365. You will learn to create:

  1. Tables
  2. Queries
  3. Data Forms
  4. Reports

How is this unit assessed?
This Unit is assessed by an External Exam
The exam is set and marked by Pearson, who are the BTEC awarding body.
You will be asked to create Database solutions using Microsoft Access under supervised conditions, over 2 consecutive days.

Day 1 (afternoon) – Part A, Design & Create Tables (3 hrs)
Day 2 (next morning) – Part B, Create Forms, Test, Evaluate (2 hrs)
