Overview of the last! upcoming endtest
We will use MALMBERG

Slide 2 - Slide

After basic 2 organs of plants of theme 2 you can...
... describe the structure and function of roots, stems and leaves.
... name organ systems in plants and list their functions.

Slide 3 - Slide

Putting together a flowering plant
Step 1: cut out the parts and paste them on a sheet to make flower
Step 2: write the correct name to each part; Flower (bloem),  stem (stengel), Leave (blad), roots (wortel), soil (aarde).
Step 3: write down the function of each part; Transport of water and nutrients (water en voedingsstoffen vervoeren), water and mineral uptake (opnemen water en mineralen), reproduction (voortplanting), photosynthesis (fotosynthese)

Slide 4 - Slide

Vascular system
  • All parts of a plant is connected with each other with the vascular system (vaatbundel system)
  • For transport of water, minerals and nutrients.
  • Transport of water upwards
  • Transport of sugar downwards

Slide 5 - Slide

Roots
  • Name of the root depends on the place. From big to small: tap root -> lateral root -> root hairs.
  • Beside water and mineral uptake, food reserves are stored (opgeslagen) in roots.
  • Roots keeps the plants in place

Slide 6 - Slide

Leaves
  • Veins are part of the vascular system. From big to small: main vein -> lateral vein.
  • Lamina (bladmoes): the place of photosynthesis in the leaf.
  • Leaf stalk: the place a leaf is connected to the stem.

Slide 14 - Quiz

Learning goals of today
 You can explain that photosynthesis makes food for animals and people.
You can describe photosynthesis.

Slide 15 - Slide

Photosynthesis stencil

Photosynthesis = fotosynthese
Producers = producenten (producenten maken voedsel)
Capture = vastleggen
Sucked = opzuigen
Respiration = respiratie (verbranden van suikers)

Slide 16 - Slide

Can we survive without plants?

Slide 17 - Slide

Slide 18 - Video

Help! There is no sound
Here is an animation about photosynthesis the animation is really good but there is no sound!
You are going to make a script to explain what is happening in the animation.
This will be homework for next week.
The document with a link to the video can be found on SOM -> lesstof

Welcome!
  • Discussing homework
  • Start practical assignment

Slide 20 - Slide

Time to discuss our homework
  • Open your homework on your laptop
  • First we randomly choose an emotion
  • Second we randomly choose a student
Read your script while watching the video, use your emotion!

Garden Cress Research!
  • We are going to grow garden cress (tuinkers) for seven days
  • We have a control group and an research group
  • You are going to measure the stem of your plant each day for a week

Slide 23 - Slide

Time to find the practical
  • SOMTODAY -> Biologie -> Jaarbijlagen -> Garden Cress
  • Download it en save it in your biology map

Slide 24 - Slide

To do
  1. Formulate a research question
  2. Search in your book for information for the introduction
  3. Write your hypothesis
  4. Measure your plants each day and bring the results to class

Slide 25 - Slide

Welkom!

Slide 26 - Slide

How is it going with your garden cress experiment?

Slide 27 - Open question
