Task 3 - Brainstorm 
During the last lesson, you have researched how a classmate has learned English so far. Our next step is to gather all these different ways and add more potential ways of how to learn English.

  1. Work in groups of max. 4 students
  2. Take an A3 paper and write down all the ways you can think of as to how to learn English.


Task 3 - Brainstorm 
  • Find ideas for all skills, speaking, listening, writing, reading, pronunciation.
  • Find ideas on how to learn either/both British versus American English.
  • Find ideas on how to enhance (improve) vocabulary, different dialects and accents.

  • Take a photo of your brainstorm paper and upload it in English / Bronnen / Task 3 - Brainstorm. 
  • This activity can only be done during class. If you were absent with a legitimate (geldige) reason, speak to your teacher.

Task 4 - Your top 10 ideas 

Look at all the answers from the brainstorm session, both your own answers and other groups' answers and discuss with your group what your Top 10 most interesting ideas would be. 

Write these ideas down in a list, take a photo and upload in itslearning English / Bronnen / Task 4 - Your top 10 ideas.

Task 5 - Design an activity with your group


Use one idea from your top 10 list and design an activity with your group. Make a powerpoint, canva or other presentation with instructions. It should be so that another group can do this activity.

  1. What is the name of your activity?
  2. How long does the activity last?
  3. What is the learning goal of your activity?
  4. What skills are the students using? (speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation) 
  5. How are the students organised? (single/pairs/groups)
  6. Explain the activity. What do students have to do? 
  7. What materials do you and/or the students need? 
  8. Do the students have to hand in anything? Show anything? 
  9. For what level do you think this activity is? (A2/B1/B2/C1) Not sure which level? Ask your teacher.
