• You  can choose the order in which to do the exam
• Make sure you answer all questions
• You can listen as often as you want
• You can use a dictionary
• You can skip a question and answer it later

TIP 1: read the instructions

Always read the introduction of each text or video carefully!

Check how many questions you have to answer.

Tip 2: scanning and skimming

Before reading the text:

• Look at the titles, pictures, paragraphs, headings.
• Then read the first question.
• Look at subheadings and pictures and find the right section in the text.

Tip 3: chronological order

Questions are usually asked in chronological order.

Question 1 - beginning of text

Question 2 - below that

etc.

Texts can be very long!

Train yourself to scan and skim texts to find the right sections.

TIP 4: use the marker

Use the marker to focus on the keywords in the questions

Tip 5: What does the expert say?

Mark the name in the text.

Find the quotation marks

Find words with similar meaning in the answers

Cito loves questions about the expert's opinion.

Finding the name and quotation marks helps to find the answer quickly.

Here the answer is C. "think twice" = be more careful"

Tip 6: Dealing with MC questions

• Read the question carefully.
• Mark the keywords.
• Find the relevant part in the text.
• Look for synonyms or similar meaning
• Delete the 'peanutbutter answer' ( the one that is obviously wrong) 

True/ False and matrix questions

False - true - true

Frank can make a customer buy the product, a customer previously decided not to buy. Is the same as:

1. True
2. False

have not yet decided = not

decided not to 

Tip 7: Watch out for the traps

If the statement is not mentioned in the text it is false.

Remember: the whole statement has to be true.

A customer who decided not to buy  a product

A customer who has not yet decided to buy a product

are not the same

Dealing with yes / no or true/ false questions

• Read the question carefully
• Mark the keywords in the options
• Find the relevant part in the text (the expert, the name, etc.)
• Usually it is about one paragraph, but not in chronological order within the paragraph
• Look for synonyms or phrases with similar meaning/
• pay attention to linking words like 'but - however - although'
• pay attention to words like 'most, all, never, always'
