Present Tenses

Slide 4 - Slide

Present Tenses?
'Present Tenses' (Tegenwoordige Tijd) beschrijven acties die in het heden gebeuren.

"I walk to school every day"
"She is a great football player"
"We are listening to music together."

Slide 5 - Slide

Present Tenses?
Zoals je ziet, zijn er verschillende manieren hoe je
een Present tense kan maken.
The Present Simple and Present Continuous.

"I walk to school every day"
"She is a great football player"
"We are listening to music together."

Slide 6 - Slide

What is the difference between the two?
Het kan een groot verschil maken als je de verkeerde vorm gebruikt.
Twee belangrijke verschillen zijn:

  • Meaning        (Wat betekent het)
  • Form                (Hoe gebruik je de tijd)

Slide 7 - Slide

Meaning
Als we de Present Simple gebruiken, dan spreken we over dingen die altijd gebeuren (feiten & gewoontes):

I walk to school every day
The sun always rises in the east.
He likes pizza.   -->  He likes pizza today, tomorrow and right now

Slide 8 - Slide

Meaning
Als we de Present Continuous gebruiken, dan hebben we het over dingen die nu gebeuren:

I am walking to school right now
He is enjoying this music.
The sun is rising

Slide 9 - Slide

Right now
Always
Which of these actions is happening right now? Which ones are always happening?
He is talking at the moment.
She loves that music.
I am a boy.
We are listening to you.
That is fun!

Slide 10 - Drag question

Form
Als we de  Present Simple maken hebben we alleen een verb nodig. We voegen een -s toe bij de SHIT-rule:

I walk to school every day.
The sun always rises in the east.
He likes pizza.

Slide 11 - Slide

Form
Als we een vraag maken met de Present Simple, dan voegen we 'do' of 'does' (SHIT-rule) toe aan het begin van de zin.
De originele -s van de SHIT-rule bij het werkwoord verdwijnt:

Do I walk to school every day?
Does the sun always rise in the east?
Does he like pizza?

Slide 12 - Slide

Form
Als we een ontkennende zin maken met de Present Simple,
dan voegen we ook 'do' of 'does' (SHIT-rule) en 'not' toe aan het begin van de zin.  De originele -s van de SHIT-rule verdwijnt:

I do not walk to school every day.
The sun does not always rise in the east.
He does not like pizza.

Slide 16 - Quiz

Form
Wanneer we de Present Continuous maken, dan kiezen we eerst  tussen am/are/is. Dan voegen we de verb + ing toe.
Als de verb eindigt met een -e, dan halen we de -e weg en maken we ruimte voor de -ing.

I am walking to school right now.
He is enjoying this music.
The sun is rising.     (rise)

Slide 17 - Slide

Form
Als we vragen maken met de Present Continuous , dan gebruiken we am/are/is bij het  begin van de zin.

Am I walking to school right now?
Is he enjoying this music?
Is the sun rising?

Slide 18 - Slide

Form
Als we een ontkennende zin maken met de Present Continuous, dan plakken we 'not' tussen am/are/is en de verb.
